You have the option of applying to it through your insurer or a lawyer.

 

What is the time limit for applying to the French Guarantee Fund for Victims ?

 It is in your interest to apply to the French Guarantee Fund for Victims as soon as possible.

If the at-fault party is known and uninsured, you have a period of 5 years from the date of the accident.

If the at-fault party is unidentified, you must apply to the French Guarantee Fund for Victims within 3 years of the date of the accident.

For material damage alone, the time limit for referral is one year.

How long will it take to get compensation for my personal injury ?

An advance will be paid within three months of the date on which the French Guarantee Fund for Victims was able to take a position on its intervention.
